The Sensation of Inspiration

The sensation of inspiration is nonpareil, peerless, yet seemingly impossible to retain. Being immersed in the irresistible feeling that sees time become a distant memory and your attention swallowed by that one thing that matters more than anything in the world could in that given moment.

The possibilities become endless. The sky becomes your limit. The world becomes your oyster and nothing can get in your way. In an unstoppable burst of energy, emotion and enlightenment, it instantaneously powers its way to the forefront of your mind, evoking an explosion of senses whilst its spontaneity remains unpredictable.

We’ve all experienced inspiration, the rush of its powers and the frustration of seeking that epiphany. Whether it be an act of courage or kindness, or a display of sheer, unrivalled talent. Many are inspired by their own family members, their favourite sports star or actor yet one thing they all unequivocally have in common is ambition. A dream. A focus. An end goal. Regardless, the stimulating powers of this tunnel vision to make an individual as active as they’ve ever been at pursuing their goal has the ability to be life changing. Contrastingly, others may spend a lifetime waiting for a spark that is never going to ignite as their everyday environment and mentality is the constant preventing a breakthrough or progress.

For some, inspiration encapsulates them in their everyday lives and is found every which way they turn. Others may not be so fortunate in knowing what it is, in particular, they are waiting for. It may arrive in the place you expect it least, through abandoning old habits or seizing a new opportunity that you would’ve previously let fade away. Personally, for me, I often find inspiration when listening to music, watching a TV documentary or taking a walk through nature. I’ve found that thinking in a different way and trying to put myself in the headspace of others often stimulates great creativity and productivity. Through opening my eyes I can see that inspiration is all around us. It is present in everything we do and everything we see (especially in Tame Impala).

To tell you the truth it was 1:54 am and I finally got bored of waiting for the moment of inspiration to motivate me to begin revising so I decided to start writing this piece about having that moment of inspiration in hope of stimulating that moment of inspiration. Let's hope it comes soon…
